My 7 year old daughter has been hassling her mother and I for a dog for about two years now, and
just before Christmas I found a dog sleeping in our garage, obviously abandoned and very sorry for
itself, so after exhaustive checks at local garda stations, dog pounds and vets, we decided to keep
her. I now have to walk the dog every morning and it gives me some time to think, so on this page I
will put my thoughts and I would welcome your input

Having spent the best part of two summers voyaging west in an attempt to get 'May Queen' to
Ireland for her centenary year, as you will know we have ended up in Falmouth. MQ spent a good
part of her working life in Falmouth as a watermans boat and also in her early years as an open
ferry on the Percuil river at St Mawes, so it seemed appropriate to spend her birthday somewhere
she was well known. I will admit to being a bit downhearted after the last attempt to get the vessel
further west, but obviously MQ had other idea's.
So, 'May Queen' will spend the next 20 or so months in Falmouth, I have a shipwright working on
all the bits that needed doing including the new transom, and we will be 'going sailing' in the new
year, it would be nice to be able to work up a crew for the Falmouth Classic's in 2010 (7th -14th
August) I have several interested people so I am really looking forward to a decent summer of
sailing and craic.

Our friendly shipwright Andy, has done
a great job on the garboard seam, the
seam had been caulked so much over
the years that it had to be covered with
a copper tingle to make sure the
caulking cotton did not fall out.

Andy is now sourcing European Larch
so he can re-deck the port bow, which
has suffered some rot over last winter,
and will also be making the new transom
as well as a lot of other work that needs
to be done before her centenary.
